What this place is

Sticky, sweet
and slightly loud

A salsa school with a proper bar attached, on Stoke Newington Road. Three classes a week, three club nights, one room, and a rule that nobody stands at the side.

New to all of this? Pick any Monday. Our bear has been teaching first salsa steps long enough to promise you that nobody is watching.

Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday

The three classes

Book a single date rather than a course. No partner to find, nothing at all assumed on a Monday, and the same three classes waiting for you every week.

The members' club

Come twice a week
and it pays for itself

Membership is a monthly pass for the classes and the club nights. Four classes a month on Zest at £19, or unlimited everything on Marmalade at £35, which also gets you into all three club nights for free, 15% off the bar and a guest pass each month.

No minimum term on the monthly tiers. Pause it when you go away, cancel it when you want, and nobody will phone you about it.

Our story

Four doors up
from Pisco's

Marmalade Club is brand new. It is the second thing on this street from the family behind Pisco's Dalston at number 16, the Peruvian kitchen four doors down, run by people who spent years running restaurants in Peru before they ran one here. Their restaurant back home, El Aguajal, won awards. This one will be judged on whether you dance.

Number 8 had been sitting empty. Twelve-foot ceilings, brick to the back wall and a wooden floor that was asking for something, so in went a bar, a proper rig and a teaching team, and out came a salsa club. The pisco sours are the same recipe as next door. So is the welcome.

We open with three classes a week and club nights Thursday to Saturday. Everything after that, the socials, the live bands, the ball, gets built around whoever turns up in the first few months. If that sounds like you, the first class is twelve pounds.
